I have been surprised and delighted by how much faster and more clearly I'm writing. You need to bring this course into schools!

Set your son or daughter up for success in 2017.
Does your son or daughter struggle with written assignments? Do they know the subject material well, but have trouble expressing that knowledge at essay or exam time?
They're in good company.
In the mid-2000s, New Dorp High School on New York's Staten Island looked at why students were failing in their studies. Their answer was simple: bad writing.
So after years of failed attempts to lift academic performance by other means, the school went on a mission to train students in analytical writing. Result: a spectacular turnaround across every subject, which has made Dorp a model for education reform.
In Writing for Results for NCEA Students, your son or daughter will be trained as students at Dorp High School have been: to think critically and express their written thoughts in clear, simple terms.
A two part programme to suit family budgets
Writing for Results for NCEA Students is delivered over two mornings. In the first workshop, we train students to write quickly and effectively. This is important: a big part of most students' struggle with writing is trying to create a near-perfect first draft. Few writers ever achieve this, and the effort to do so is disheartening and counterproductive.
In the second workshop, we get to work on critical thinking and editing - coaching students in identifying what to leave in and what to remove from their first draft - and the handful of other critical steps needed to turn it into a clear, crystalline, cogent argument.

On a mission to set people free.
I'm Ken Grace, developer of Writing for Results and Director of Department of Writing. In a 30-year career, I've written for Vodafone, Air New Zealand, ASB Bank, Holden, Westpac, AMP, Grant Thornton, AgResearch and many others. I've edited medical journals and trade magazines, and written business books, DM letters, countless websites and dozens of multimillion dollar bid documents and proposals.
Along the way I've won a host of writing and editing awards, including two Qantas Media Awards, two Gold RSVP Awards for Direct Marketing campaigns that produced outstanding results, and a gold award for radio.
I hold an MA in English with Class I Honours. I'm a published author and passionate about communication. My view is that anyone can write clearly and quickly.
I'm on a mission to set people free from whatever holds them back from expressing themselves clearly.
